Russian Language Newsletter The Post-Soviet Media Law and Policy Newsletter has received a $24,000 grant from the Eurasia Foundation for a newsletter to be published in Moscow, in Russian. The Russian newsletter is currently in its first production stages. The publisher will be Aleksei Simonov and the editor will be Andrei Richter. The newsletter will provide greater and more immediate coverage of the legal institutions concerned with media in Moscow (and throughout the CIS). For example, in Moscow, the monthly newsletter will monitor the Duma, the Federal Council, the Committee on the Press, the Judicial Board for Media Disputes, the Federal Commission on Radio and Television, and other relevant bodies. Andrei Richter has been associate editor of this newsletter. He is on the faculty of the School of Journalism of Moscow State University and is also assuming responsibilities at the Russian-American Press and Information Center. Aleksei Simonov, founder of the Glasnost Defense Foundation, has been a well-known and constant voice for journalistic independence. He was Chair of the Temporary Commission on the Licensing of Broadcast Frequencies. |
